Glengall Wharf Garden is a community space at the east side of Burgess Park, in north Peckham. A peaceful oasis for the local community, everyone is welcome to enjoy the garden and participate in volunteer gardening sessions and a variety of workshops, ranging from permaculture and forest gardening, to balcony and inside growing.
In the garden you’ll find a forest garden and food growing beds, a healing yurt, beehives, chickens, ponds and a campfire, with plans to add plenty more in 2021! Sharing skills and empowering others is at the heart of what the garden offers, while contributing to sustainable, green development within London.
We are committed to sharing knowledge on the importance of protecting our natural environments, to promote long-term health for both people and planet.
Glengall Wharf Garden is Crowdfunding!
Following the isolation caused by the pandemic, we want to re- engage and uplift the community.
We’re delighted to have secured a £10,000 grant from the Mayor of London’s Make London fund; which takes us halfway to our £20,000 goal – so we still need your help!
If successful, we plan to purchase and convert a used shipping container to serve as a learning space and hub for the community. A comprehensive schedule of new activities and events for all age groups is being curated – not only related to gardening but exploring wellbeing, art, food, crafting and more. As part of our commitment to sustainable development, we’ll be using reclaimed and recycled materials, installing solar panels, a rainwater harvesting system, green roof and exterior living walls.
For full details – and to support the project and help us create something special for Peckham’s community, please take a look at our Spacehive page, pledge your support and share with friends and family.
