We are pleased to announce that we will be running
two free, 6 week beginner food growing courses, starting this month!
Who are these courses for?
If you meet the criteria below, they are for you!
Eager to learn about sustainable and ethical food growing
Can commit to the full course (except in case of illness etc.)
Local to Burgess Park (and able to travel to the garden by foot/bike)
Willing to adhere to COVID guidance and risk assessment
We are an inclusive community and welcome people from all backgrounds. As places are limited, preference will be given to those who have not previously attended a Glengall Wharf Garden food growing course. Preference may also be given to those on low income/benefits.
What will the courses cover?
During the course you will learn about the fundamentals of food growing, sustainability and permaculture in a friendly, outdoor setting. We take a hands-on approach and you will learn about the following by doing them!
Planning for planting
Preparing beds for planting
Seed sowing and care
Plant and soil nutrients
Forest garden maintenance
When will the courses run?
Every Tuesday (10am-1:30pm), for six weeks:
16 Feb, 23 Feb, 2 Mar, 9 Mar, 16 Mar, 23 Mar
Every Sunday (10:30am-2pm), for six weeks:
21 Feb, 28 Feb, 7 Mar, 14 Mar, 21 Mar, 28 Mar
How do I sign up for the courses?
If you have read the above and are interested to joining a food growing course, please apply using the google form below, Let us know why you’d like to do the course, which course you are interested in (Tuesday course or Sunday course) and how you fit the criteria.
Closing date: Wednesday 10 February
As we are limited to a maximum of 6 people per course, we will let you know by email if your application has been successful on 12 February.
