Free Food Growing Course – April 2022

Good News! We will be running a 6 week food growing course from 20th April – 25th May!

Who are these courses for?

If you meet the criteria below, it is for you!

  • Eager to learn about sustainable and ethical food growing and / or pursue an existing interest
  • Can commit to the full course (except in case of illness etc.)
  • Local to Burgess Park (and able to travel to the garden by foot/bike)
  • Willing to adhere to relevant risk assessments.

We are an inclusive community and welcome people from all backgrounds. As places are limited, preference will be given to those who have not previously attended a Glengall Wharf Garden food growing course. Preference may also be given to those on low income/benefits.

What will the courses cover?

During the course you will learn about the fundamentals of food growing, sustainability and permaculture in a friendly, outdoor setting. We take a hands-on approach and you will learn about the following by doing them!

  • Planning for planting
  • Preparing beds for planting
  • Seed sowing and care
  • Crop rotation
  • Composting
  • Plant and soil nutrients

When will the 6 week course run?

Wednesday 20th, 27th April 10.30am – 4.30pm 

Wednesday 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th May 10.30am – 4.30pm 

There will be tea breaks and a short break for lunch during the course.

How do I sign up for the course?

If you have read the above and are interested in joining a food growing course, please apply using the google form below, Let us know why you’d like to do the course and how you fit the criteria.

Closing date: Sunday 3rd April 11.59pm

As we are limited to a maximum of 12 people per course, we will let you know by email if your application has been successful by 8th April.
